The School House Difference
Our curriculum brings together the pieces we value most in early childhood education: Reggio Emilia inspiration • Traditional academics • Early literacy & Fundations • Living books • Thoughtful Toddler • Social-emotional learning • STEAM • Nature • Creative expression • Kindergarten preparation
The result is a childhood filled with wonder, relationships, creativity, exploration, and purposeful learning—with a strong foundation for whatever comes next. Curious. Confident. Kind. Capable. A strong foundation for a lifetime of learning.

Where Curiosity Meets Kindergarten Readiness
At The School House, we believe children learn best when they feel safe, loved, inspired, and excited to discover the world around them.
Our curriculum blends Reggio Emilia-inspired learning with intentional traditional academics, giving children the freedom to explore, create, and ask questions while building the foundational skills they need for kindergarten and beyond.
Reggio Emilia Inspired
We view children as capable, curious learners and believe the environment acts as a teacher. Our classrooms are intentionally warm and inviting, filled with natural materials, loose parts, learning centers, and open-ended opportunities for discovery.
Teachers build upon children's interests, encouraging them to investigate, problem-solve, create, and express their ideas. Each classroom also incorporates an atelier-inspired art space, where art is valued as an important form of communication and learning.
Traditional Academics & Early Literacy
Alongside our Reggio inspiration, we incorporate purposeful academic instruction in phonics, pre-reading, writing, math, science, vocabulary, and fine-motor development.
In our older classrooms, we incorporate concepts from Fundations to strengthen phonemic awareness, letter recognition and sounds, rhyming, sound blending, and other early literacy skills.
Our goal isn't to rush children academically. It's to build a strong foundation so they enter kindergarten confident, prepared, and excited to learn.
Living Books & Literature
We believe great books inspire great learning. Children are exposed to high-quality fiction, nonfiction, and living books that introduce rich language, interesting ideas, real-world topics, and beautiful stories.
Books are often connected to our classroom themes and investigations, helping children develop vocabulary, comprehension, imagination, and a genuine love of reading.
Thoughtful Toddler
Our Thoughtful Toddler approach recognizes how much development happens during the toddler years.
Through sensory exploration, art, movement, music, language, routines, and hands-on play, toddlers build early independence and foundational learning skills. Teachers also support children as they begin learning to identify emotions, communicate their needs, navigate transitions, build friendships, and develop self-regulation.
Social & Emotional Learning
Academic readiness is only one part of preparing children for the future.
Using relationship-based teaching and elements of Conscious Discipline, we help children develop confidence, independence, emotional awareness, communication, friendship skills, and problem-solving.
Our goal is to nurture children who are not only ready to learn, but also kind, capable, and confident members of their classroom community.
STEAM & Hands-On Discovery
Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math are woven throughout our curriculum through real, hands-on experiences.
Children may garden, cook, build, investigate animal habitats, conduct simple experiments, explore nature, create three-dimensional art, or work together to solve a problem.
We encourage children to observe, predict, question, experiment, and discover rather than simply giving them the answer.
Kindergarten Preparation
Our Pre-K program intentionally prepares children for a successful transition into kindergarten.
Children strengthen phonemic awareness, early writing, math concepts, fine-motor skills, comprehension, vocabulary, problem-solving, and executive-functioning skills while also learning to follow routines, work independently, participate in groups, and communicate confidently.
We want our graduates to leave The School House believing:
“I know how to learn. I can try. I can ask questions. I can do hard things.”
Enrichment & Whole-Child Learning
Learning extends beyond traditional academics. Throughout the year, children have opportunities to experience music, gardening, cooking, soccer, dance, Spanish, and optional chapel, depending on their age and the season.
These experiences allow children to discover new interests while developing creativity, confidence, coordination, and a connection to the world around them.
