More Than a Masterpiece: Exploring Color Through Process Art

Paint, coffee filters, and a little imagination can turn into a pretty amazing preschool experience!
Our children recently explored color using paint and coffee filters, watching as colors moved, blended, changed, and created completely unique designs. While the finished artwork was beautiful, at The School House, we know that what happens during the process is even more important.
Process art gives children the freedom to make choices, experiment with materials, practice fine-motor skills, explore cause and effect, and express their own creativity—without every child's project needing to look exactly the same.
It's one of the ways our Reggio-inspired approach comes to life in our classrooms. We thoughtfully combine creativity, exploration, academics, STEM, and traditional kindergarten-readiness skills to create a preschool experience that develops the whole child.
At The School House, we want children to create, wonder, get a little messy, and be proud to say, “I made that!”
